
Brand new mascot, brand new website. Little Tokyo, a leading tattoo studio, wanted to celebrate the launch of their new mascot through an online experience that paid homage to their status as industry pioneers while standing out from the crowd.

Respect to the past, built for the future
Little Tokyo has a rich heritage steeped with strong cultural and artistic roots. Stemming from a deep appreciation of traditional Japanese art forms, the studio has grown to encompass all genres of tattoo artistry; as the designer on this project, it was important to create an ecosystem that paid homage to this history while ensuring that the site is a modern, exciting standout amongst top tattoo websites for years to come.

A custom, standout and scalable visual experience
To complement the new studio mascot, Tiny the Sumo, I established a suite of neon kanji illustrations representing each part of the studio. Peppered throughout the website and the studio's social channels, these illustrations provide a cohesive visual link between all online touchpoints.
The rest of the website experience combines playful animation with custom interactions to create an experience that encapsulates the craft and legacy of the Little Tokyo brand.
